RULES AND REGULATIONS

I shouldn't be smoking right now.

However,

It was never easy for me 

to blindly follow the rules

just because

they are rules.

I've always felt 

the need to understand

at least

the reasons behind them.

I knew they've been created

by people,

flawed people

like me.

Nowadays,

I don't believe everything I hear.

It's a fact

that most people are biased,

and I'm aware that

not even my memory

is a reliable witness.

First,

I think and I wonder and then

I recycle the material

until I arrive to a place that

I like to call:

my own opinion.

Yes,

It's a gamble in which 

you get to choose

what to believe in

and what to discard.

There are no warranties either way

and no way to undo what has been done.

No extra lives, nor divine justice

only the present

with another

choice

to make.

Osea,

no debería estar fumando en este momento.

Sin embargo,

nunca fue fácil para mi

seguir ciegamente las reglas

simplemente 

porque son reglas.

Siempre sentí

la necesidad de entender

por lo menos

las razones detrás de ellas.

Sabía que habían sido creadas

por personas,

personas imperfectas

como yo.

Hoy en día,

no creo todo lo que escucho.

Es un hecho

que la mayoría de la gente tiene prejuicios,

y soy consciente de que

ni siquiera mi memoria

es un testigo confiable.

Primero,

pienso y me cuestiono y después

reciclo el material

hasta que llego a un lugar que

me gusta llamar:

mi propia opinión.

Sí,

es una apuesta en la que

te toca a vos elegir

en qué creer

y qué desechar.

No hay garantías de ninguna manera

y no hay forma de deshacer lo que se ha hecho.

Sin vidas extra, ni justicia divina

solo el presente

con otra

elección

que tomar.
